Hi

and welcome

I hope you enjoy viewing my art.

Heres a selection of pictures to help describe the various mediums I use and also give a sense of how living on the beautiful Lands End Peninsula of Cornwall inspires me as an Artist

After many years of lugging bags of unused art materials along tricky coastal paths I have finally condensed my sketching kit!

Whatever time of year there is plenty of inspiration

Muddy walks and quick sketches around the village

Windswept hedgerows are great to draw

I love on the spot sketching, its such a challenge! Watercolours are perfect, they dry quickly and have a fabulous spontinaity about them.

Lands End to Sennen

Lands End to Sennen

One of my favourite sketching trips is along the coastal path between Lands End and Sennen, trying to capture the changing colours of the seasons and the effects of changing weather ...never a dull moment!

Monoprinting

Monoprinting

Its always fun experimenting, this print was created by drawing and rubbing the back of a sheet of paper that was placed on some rolled out left over ink. printmaking can take on its own narrative

Printmaking press

Drypoint etching

Drypoint etching

Drypoint is an intaglio method of printmaking where the drawing is scraped into a printmaking plate, covered with ink, wiped and run through an etching press. The pressure of the press pushes the ink from the incised lines onto the paper producing lovely velvety lines. You can see the indentation of the plate on the paper.

I then painted the print with watercolour

I was experimenting here using part of a waste plastic bottle as a drypoint printing plate
